If your child thinks that school is boring you are not alone. There are a lot of students who find at least some of their classes to be beyond dull.
A kid can doodle, toss a few erasers at their best friend, or slump in their desk trying to find a comfier position but all that they will discover is that trying to take a nap at a school desk is virtually impossible. Unfortunately knowing that little bit of trivia is not going to help your child to figure out how to get through the day and still pull a good grade.
When you want time to pass quickly it can move like dry sludge across a hot desert. So let's take a little look at why a child might be getting bored in school so we can try to rectify that situation.
I Have Heard the Term "I Hate School" Quite Often
Some subjects can be pretty uninteresting and some teachers can be exceptionally monotonous. It is a fact that there are a lot of factors that come into play which could be causing you to lose interest in your classes.
Just about every student has somewhere else where he or she would prefer to be and sometimes this affects our ability to learn. A nice summer day can leave you day dreaming of being outdoors.
Yeah it is much nicer being out there than being inside listening to all the stuff that your teacher wants you to install into the deep dark depths of your mind.
I hate to break it to you but unfortunately school is definitely not the place for a kid to catch up on lost sleep. The classroom can be noisy and those desks are as hard as rock.
A Kid Has Got to do What a Kid Has Got to do!
Right now your favorite video game, friend, or hobby could be on your mind taking your thoughts away from what your teacher is saying.
Yep, those things can definitely be much more interesting than math, using proper grammar, and who shot who in the last world war. But you have to push those lazy summer day kind of thoughts out of your mind and get down to the task of learning.
Point is that you do have to be in school because one of these days you are going to realize exactly how intelligent all that learning has made you. It might hit you when you run into a school mate who is panhandling on the street (hey that happened to me) or you might be sitting at an office desk, or sitting on an airplane headed to a business trip.
Just trust me that one of these days it will sink in. Education is important and later in life you are really going to appreciate the stuff that you learn today.

There Are a Number of Reasons Why Kids Get Bored in Class
So How do You Keep From Being Bored in Class?
Most of us learn better when we are taught through a variety of methods (seeing, hearing, and writing it out) so writing out what you are seeing or hearing may actually help you to better understand it.
Which means that you could pick up your pencil and doodle. I bet you did not know that you can doodle in a constructive way that will actually help you to learn.
You just have to jot down key words, phrases, or points that the teacher is trying to make and draw out quick little cartoons on the concepts that he or she is trying to explain.
When you understand a concept it makes it easier to be more interested in the subject and you feel less bored. It is a chain reaction and one that works. Concentrating in school can actually make you feel less bored there.
Fatigue can also definitely affect learning. If you are not getting sufficient sleep at night then a school day can be a nightmare to try to get through. (And as stated earlier that desk is just not designed for a comfortable midday nap.)
Fatigue makes it difficult to concentrate or to be concerned about issues. Being tired in class can make you bored and it can also get you failing grades. It is up to you to insure that you get enough sleep to stay focused in class.
Stress can also be huge factor in a students inability to focus on an instructors lessons. Problems at home, with friends, or personal insecurities can be big distractions.
We are human and we have a lot of things going on in our lives. These issues can easily keep you from being interested in what the teacher is trying to get you to learn.
There can be a number of reasons as to why you find school so boring. It could be your teachers fault, or the dryness of the subject matter, but it could just as likely be any number of other reasons. So why are you bored in school?

Doodling can help you to learn new concepts in school. It's true.
If you doodle out words and concepts related to the current conversation or things that you are curious about then it can actually help you to better understand and remember the subject.
People learn through different methods and writing what you are hearing creates dual pathways of learning. Which means that doodling can help keep you on track and prevent you from daydreaming about other stuff. Cool huh?
