Cabbage rolls were pretty much a standard meal when company visited my Grandmother's house. She had a huge garden and was used to cooking for a large family so she knew the most economical meals to prepare when the need arose. Her being of Ukrainian heritage perhaps helped just a wee bit in her selection of this recipe as well.
Grandma was amazing and could always find the time to prepare the most scrumptious meals and desserts. Those days almost seem like a thing of the past but we can still have the same great flavor in our meals that she prepared back then.
By cutting the preparation time we are able to make and fit these meals into our busy lives without sacrificing any of the great flavor that we are used to. Because let's face it, you just cannot get that great homemade taste from a store bought brand.
So here is the recipe for a lazy girl's cabbage rolls without the roll. It's a casserole dish with all the flavor of the traditional dish but with much less of the work.
