This is yet another great recipe with bacon, yes I said it... BACON!!! It's the classic BLT sandwich recipe that has been around practically forever and with good reason I might add. It is delicious.
This classic bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich is so good with its amazing combination of flavors and crispy disposition, but now people are finding new and creative ways to add a little twist to all that deliciousness. "Improve on perfection", I query, "How can that be"?
Being a bacon lover at heart I have to agree with the "why just stop there" when there are so many other great ingredients you can add to this fantastic sandwich. So let's search deep into our hungry little stomach and discover what we really yearn to have on our BLT sandwich. The new recipe can be as different as each individual who is dining on it.
Two Slices of Bread for the Standard and Three for the Club
There is only one firm rule on how to make a BLT sandwich and that is that the creation must contain bacon, lettuce, and tomato. (Even I knew that one.) Generally mayonnaise is another standard feature if you are requesting it off a restaurant menu.
A BLT club sandwich is similar to its smaller cousin but this sandwich has an extra slice of bread tossed into the mix. It also contains chicken or turkey on one layer. If you were building it then generally the layers of the club would be as follows:
Slice of bread (toasted an optional feature).
Chicken or turkey
Another slice of bread
Final slice of bread (buttered of course).
After all that building you would stab it together with a toothpick and finish off the plate generally with french fries or potato salad. A meal fit for a king and one perfect for sending your heart's arteries on a mad dash to the nearest emergency room.

Yes, There are Variations of the BLT You Can Use
So long as you have bacon, lettuce, and tomato between two slices of bread-like material then anything else goes. Cheese, ham, and pickles are other foods that I have heard of being added in.
I think it's safe to say that quite a few people use mayo on their BLT's but there are many other sauces to choose from as well. Butter, thousand island, a sprinkle of lemon juice, ketchup, or maybe your favorite salad dressing drizzled in just to name a few.
Salt and Pepper are the seasonings of my choice but perhaps some seasoning salt, garlic powder, lemon pepper, or a few herbs sprinkled on would be more to your liking? You could also spice it up with a little chili powder or cayenne pepper. Some folks don't need any extra seasonings at all. They just love the flavor of those three vital BLT sandwich ingredients.
